The later model 302 HO motors got the 351W firing order (1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8). Prior to that, they had a different firing order (1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8). The 302's are Windsors, regardless of firing order. I doubt it is a Cleveland motor because I only know of one firing order in that engine family, which is the same as the 351W.

So looks like somebody reinstalled the distributor 90 degrees off. Your timing and firing order can still be correct, the absolute location of #1 doesn't matter in most cases. They probably got it TDC on #1, then stabbed wherever they wanted, then put the cap on to line up correctly.
