I have everything disconnected and the tank is already removed. However, I can't seem to extract the 3 lines.When I did my 5.3 swap on my YJ, I installed all original GM parts from the Canister, Vent valve to the Purge Valve in the back of the jeep next to the gas tank. Plumbing was easy as the purge line was already there running on the frame to the front. I have a 89 jeep wrangler 258 6 cylinder with a fuel delivery problem. I replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, and lines. It seems that the bypass on the fuel filter creats a vacumm and stops gas from going to the carb. If i pore gas into the card it starts and runs till that gas is used. Any thoughts or ideas would get ths 89 back on the road.Sep 21, 2007 · 41703. Comon guys YJ's use a return line, TJ's do not. Most of the manufactures switched at the OBD1/OBD11 transition. I own a 93 YJ and a 99TJ, YJ's have a regulator on at the fuel rail with the return going back to the tank and TJ's have a single feed line with all regulation in the tank as part of the sending unit.

This could possibly rupture the diaphragm in the fuel pump...depending on the quality of the pump. Kept the original Peugeot manual tranny. Got a lot of obstacles to overcome (mainly wiring-don't have the donor XJ bulkhead harness) and the one that I am working on right now is the fuel delivery.

The old Jeep's with carbs used a mechanical pump that wouldn't fit on a SBC. If it were mine, i would run new line from the front to the rear for both the supply and the return lines. As well as the brake line, cause once you start messing with them, they will just start leaking somewhere else.
