My bike is taking longer than usual to start. I hear the fuel pump pressurizing and when I press the start button, nothing for a few seconds. then the FI light starts flashing. Here's the problem. I've got an 04 Vulcan Nomad 1500 FI that I just acquired a few weeks ago. As of this morning it will not start. Engine turns over, there's spark at the plugs, but no fuel coming in to the system. The red FI light comes on and stays lit when the ignition is turned on but the ECM doesn't flash any codes when I go through the retrieval process.

If your 1500 vulcan won't start... It's not the sidestand switch, if it won't start. It just won't run with sidestand "down" and in gear, with the clutch out. So here's the troubleshoot. First check the battery voltage. It should be 12.5 or more. Frank, I think what you are experiencing is "normal". My 1500 did it for years. I got 55,000 miles out of the first set of clutch plates. When I replaced mine, I only did the clutch friction pads and not the metal plates.
