i reloaded in the 60's and not since then but i want to get back in it for hunting loads. used to be the aa was the best hull. i was reloading when it came out. i am interested in 1 1/8 z loads for the 2 3/4'' shells in 20ga. i see several hull, wad , powder combos in a book from ''loadbooks''...I use MEC reloaders, Remington STS primers, Claybuster wads, and Remington STS and Gun Club hulls. ... I also have a good many Win AA hulls for both gauges. I have WAA12, WAA12R, WAA20 & Rem SP20 wads as well. I only have a few Win 209 primers so I guess I had best brace for the sticker shock on primers.

When I moved up to a MEC 9000 reloader, the results still were not good, perhaps even worse. I tried increasing the wad pressure to 60 – 70 lbs but I was told by MEC that I should not do that. MEC recommended either Downrange wads or Remington RPX wads. I tried the Down Range wads and the Remington wads and I prefer the Remington wads.

A change in hulls or wads makes a huge difference. I've tried some of the published loads but didn't have great results. Finally tried Rem plastic hulls (STS), SP20 wads and longshot. Perfect everytime now. Note: I liked the 1oz wads but if you have trouble and need more room in the hull, you may have to use 7/8 oz load.
