An easy remedy for this is turning the A/C to a mid setting, or even turn the heat on for a bit, melt the ice from the evaporator, then run the A/C above the lowest setting. Don't put the blame on the car. Blame it on the weather and the car's operator.

After doing some research, I've tried resetting the HVAC system by temporarily pulling the fuse. No effect.Not drive or just shrivel up and die. The hissing is almost certainly a leak. The system has a low pressure switch that prevents the AC unit from turning on if the refrigerant pressure drops too low. On the Acadia it most often is an expensive repair.
