Truck is California 1990 F350 dually extended cab 7.3 166hp diesel, 4:10 Sterling 10.25 rear end, E4OD trans, well maintained with 125,000 miles original, Original injection pump, injectors changed by dealer at about 70,000 miles. Tires one size oversize, I believe 235-85/16, and I think I calculated the tires at 4% greater circumferance.this would explain the presence of engine oil in the. injector bore if the head was indeed cracked. Furthermore, if the valve repair was done on #8. that might explain the apparent piston damage/failure. My 88 IDI has a new engine but no block heater. I have been poking around Google I did not realize there was such a variety. I found them from $20 to $180. I am not sure I see that much difference in them.As Calvin said, drain the oil so the area will be a bit cleaner and you're not fighting the oil trying to escape. Clean up the outside of the hole carefully for better holding and seal. But be careful there in case the surrounding area is weakened. There is a section of stickies for newbies that explains the IDI, so start there first. Depending on mileage, freshen up the injection pump and injectors, and get the engine timed properly. Makes all the difference in the world as far as performance and mileage are concerned. Be sure to do the lift pump as well.You need to clean the filter head rub it dry. I take the seal off the filter an rub completly with fresh oil an stick oring back on filter inside of the grooves an screw it on. That's the best way I use to only rub the top an screw on but found out this way is a thousand times better.
