In Pillars of Eternity. At character creation, rangers must pick one of six Animal Companions. Rangers are able to select one ability at every odd level (1, 3, 5, etc.). Plenty of ways to build a rogue in that regard, one of the many reasons to like the class . Backstabbing with something like Firebrand is quite hilarious by the way, especially if you crit with its extra big crit multiplier (and especially especially if you Deathblow as well). +400% damage FTW.
D'amarr is right, INT and RES help the most with the dialogue choices. However they are absolutely of useless in combat for a Rogue. I'd advise for high MIG, DEX and PER. MIG and DEX will not give you silver tongues dialogue choices but PER will definitly give you some good things to pick. But they are not in a persuasive nature. CON is only lowered by 6%, which is negligible. More PER for interrupts, a little defense, and a few extra dialogue options. INT down to save a couple of points; only a few rogue abilities will be effected, and then only by a 10% shorter duration (e.g.: Crippling and Blinding Strike will run 9 seconds instead of 10).

Guns sucks on rogue , they are way better with some fast bow , simple because rogue have a passive skill that make 15% of your hits criticals.. so faster weapon benefit better from it.
