Through my purchase process I test drove the 2014 Silverado as well and while driving it noticed that the radio home screens are customization in terms of icon order and layout as well as themes. My GMC does not have this feature.Followup on my last post. I installed the new HMI and radio module that updates to CarPlay but that didn't fix the "ghost touch" problem. As far as I know there is no way to open it up and change out the lights. The ones in the cluster you should be able to get to.
