The other issue is on occasion when we put the Forester in reverse, the light on the info screen for the rear braking doesn't come on, and the dash actually says "RAB Disabled". It doesn't go away until the car is driven for a bit or turned off. Putting it back into park the into reverse again, etc doesn't fix it. The dealer claims it had no codes.
Now I realize I can turn on the audible alarm and disable RAB right from the back up camera view. This helps a lot, though it made me feel really stupid when I finally got it. Thanks again! I never checked, but for whatever reason I assumed there were backup sensors since the car has cross-traffic alerting. While it does have the reverse camera, I'd like to add the RAB system just for the reverse sensors. It might (probably) need the ECU to be programmed to support it, but the cost for all the parts is only ~ $220.

Next drive info center went off and said RAB off check owners manual then it rebooted. It has reset 5 or 6 times without rab warning since. Time for oil change gonna make the dealer look at it.
