The bearings are usually about the last thing to fail on a Prairie 400. I would check the cam chain tightener and adjust it according to the manual. Set the valve lash to proper clearances, as I would guess it is overdue too. Also, I would pull the belt converter cover and check the belt and clutches for wear.

The 300cc is oil/air cooled so that "mini radiator" you spotted would be the oil cooler.
