Luzern is the most "Swiss". Zürich the most cosmopolitan. Basel the most convenient for a trip to either France (Colmar would be lovely for a day) or Germany (Freiburg im Breisgau is an hour from Basel). Hi, We are a family of 4 (two 4 and 10 year old boys) visiting Switzerland for the first time in July. We will be spending two nights at Montreux and am wondering if there are any places highly recommended to stay. Hotels are fine, but a lot of them do not have great reviews on Tripadvisor. The ones that do are more than 1000$ a night.
