Most generally, and all other factors being equal, a long stroke small block like a 383 will make better numbers with a 106 LSA cam vs. one with a wider angle ground into it. Your compression ratio is suspect if you intend on running that much camshaft. You really need 12.5:1 minimum to really utilize a cam of these proportions.

In the case of the 441, heads with the "X" has the same intake runners as the regular 441 but the combustion chamber was 80cc instead of 76cc. The longer rod gives more duration at tdc and yes you can run higher comp on them if I rember right. yes you have to use special pistons, it allows you to rev higher but I think if any thing it hurts torque. My machinest said more often than not people like the 5.7's more. I guess its up to your conditions though.

Depending on your combo, if the the cam is short and the engine can truly use more cam duration/lift you will see some gain from both intake and exhaust 1.6 rockers. basically if you have really good intake and exhaust system but cam is a little small then you will see overall increase in the entire power band.Build your 400/406 if it needs bored to right at 9.5 CR.
