I ran dual wield katanas until ng+ when I picked up the jellyfish shield, idk how you can lose when you’re using a shield. Shields are brokenly good. Guard counters can be good but they're very situational. Nice for posture damage. Guard counter is like the middle attack between fast R1 and slow full charged R2. You need a window to properly hit with the attack or you'll get hit first or after if the enemy didn't get staggered.
