Feb 4, 2012 · Simply twisting/pulling tears up the substrate badly . After my first tub the substrate looked like a yard that had 1000 gophers in it. I ended up having to pull the substrate that was attached to the base of my mushrooms and press it back in as an attempt to fill all of the holes.

I barely use any polyfill in my monotubs, just enough to keep dust and stuff out. If you got the moisture right to begin with, a fair amount of FAE is necessary to help the mushrooms reach their potential.
